The quilt is about 40 -50 years old, 100% Hand Stitched & Hand Embroidered & have a very soft hand feel. Kantha quilts consist of several layers of recycled cotton or saris, they are held together by a simple, running, “Kantha” stitch that is applied row after row and gives the fabric its unique, slightly old, wrinkled effect.
This kind of embroidery is most popular with the rural women of India, who spends hour upon hour creating these wonderful, one-of-a-kind pieces.
The top layer of the quilt may start peeling off (due to wear), letting the layer below shine through. Fabric : 100% cotton size
